Adolescent Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient Care for Teens

The Adolescent Inpatient Treatment Program provides a supportive healing environment for teens ages 13 to 17 with emotional and behavioral problems, including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, impulse control disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, suicidal ideations or homicidal behavior.

The program focuses on the specific emotional needs of teens, helping them and their family to work through their crisis to stabilize and improve their quality of life. The goal is for the adolescent to leave Brentwood Hospital, exhibiting appropriate expression of emotions and self-control, appropriate anger management skills and with the ability to develop and improve healthy peer relationships. The program provides teens with a multi-disciplinary approach, administered under the direction of an attending psychiatrist.

Program features include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation
  • Physical examination
  • Family, group and individual therapy
  • Health and nutrition education
  • Activity and recreational therapy
  • Medication management
  • Substance abuse treatment and detox, as necessary
  • Educational support
